Southwest Monsoon to bring rains over several areas

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) affecting Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao will bring rains over several areas on Monday, PAGASA said.

Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the Southwest Monsoon. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly result in flash floods or landslides.

Mindanao, Cavite, Batangas, the rest of Mimaropa and Visayas may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon on the other hand will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result during severe thunderstorms.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a low pressure area (LPA) east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon.

At 3 a.m., the LPA was estimated to be located at 1,155 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon (24.1°N, 132.5°E).

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.

Sunrise was at 5:40 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:24 p.m. —KG, GMA Integrated News
