Habagat to keep bringing rain to the Visayas, Mindanao

Habagat to keep bringing rain to the Visayas, Mindanao

The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) would continue to bring cloudy conditions and rain over the Visayas and Mindanao in the next 24 hours, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.

The Western Visayas, Negros Island  Region, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan could expect overcast conditions with scattered rain and thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

These moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides.

Mindanao and the rest of the Visayas would see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain-showers or thunderstorms also due to the Habagat.

Localized thunderstorms may cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain-showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of  Luzon.

These severe thunderstorms may cause flash floods and landslides in the affected areas.

The state weather bureau also said the country would experience light to moderate winds and coastal conditions.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:40 a.m. on Monday.

Meanwhile, PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said there was a slim chance that a low-pressure area (LPA) 1,310 kilometers north-northeast of extreme northern Luzon would develop into a tropical depression in the next  24 hours. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
