2 to 3 tropical cyclones expected in August - PAGASA

Two to three tropical cyclones may enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility this August, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.

(Two tropical cyclones, Butchoy and Carina, formed in PAR in the month of July. For the month of August, we expect two or three tropical cyclones to develop in the Philippine Area of Responsibility.)

PAGASA predicted that the Philippines will see 13 to 18 tropical cyclones in 2024, lower than the average of 19 to 20 per year.

The agency declared the start of the rainy season in the country on May 29.

However, there may be breaks in rainfall that extend over a few days or weeks, also referred to as monsoon breaks, PAGASA said. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
