Yellow rainfall warning up over Metro Manila, 7 other areas

Weather bureau PAGASA raised the yellow rainfall warning over Metro Manila and seven other areas at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

Affected areas include Zambales, Bataan, Pampanga, Bulacan, Cavite, Batangas and Tarlac, aside from Metro Manila.

PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) being enhanced by Typhoon Carina is bringing heavy rains.

A yellow rainfall warning means residents should be on the alert as flooding may possibly result in flood-prone areas.

Light to moderate with occasional heavy rains meanwhile are being experienced in Nueva Ecija, Rizal, Quezon and Laguna. These rains may persist within three hours, PAGASA said.

The weather bureau advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to monitor the weather condition and await the next rainfall warning to be issued at 2 p.m.

In its 11 a.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Typhoon Carina slightly intensified as it moved northward over the Philippine Sea.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 was raised over Batanes, while TCWS No. 1 was hoisted over the rest of Batanes (Sabtang), Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, the eastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Palanan, Maconacon, Dinapigue, Tumauini, Ilagan City, San Mariano, Cabagan, San Pablo, Santa Maria), the northern portion of Apayao (Calanasan, Luna, Pudtol, Flora, Santa Marcela), the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Bangui, Adams, Dumalneg, Burgos, Vintar), the northern portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran), Polillo Islands, Calaguas Islands, and the northern portion of Catanduanes (Pandan, Bagamanoc, Panganiban, Viga, Gigmoto, Caramoran). —KG, GMA Integrated News
