Southwest Monsoon causes cloudy skies, rain showers over parts of PH

The Southwest Monsoon will continue to bring cloudy skies and rain showers over several areas of the Philippines, according to PAGASA’s daily weather forecast on Thursday afternoon.

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat may cause cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Misamis Occidental, and Lanao del Norte, and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila, the rest of MIMAROPA, Batangas, Cavite, and Laguna.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be expected over BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, and Davao Occidental because of the Intertropical Convergence Zone, while the rest of the Philippines may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

Flash floods and landslides may occur due to these weather conditions.

Meanwhile, light to moderate winds with slight to moderate waters may be expected across the Philippines.

Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:34 a.m. on Friday. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
