ITCZ caused the smog in parts of PH -PAGASA

The Intertropical Convergence Zone caused instances of smog with zero visibility over parts of the country.

According to a 24 Oras Weekend report by EJ Gomez, the weather during the past week caused rainy skies and thunder over different parts of the country.

PAGASA said that the smog was caused by a temperature inversion, which occurs when cold air gathers beneath hot air,  which traps the air pollution.

(In temperature inversions, this water vapor cannot rise to the top. It stays close to the ground)

The ITCZ will cause similar weather conditions in the country, before eventually clearing on Sunday.

So asahan po natin [ang] nangyari kahapon for today, sa ngayong Sabado,” said Aurelio.

(We observed that rain showers like on Friday may still be expected because the ITCZ is still affecting the country. So, let us expect what happened on Friday would happen again on Saturday.)
