PAGASA: Thunderstorms expected as LPA nears Dipolog

Thunderstorms expected as LPA nears Dipolog

The low pressure area (LPA) embedded along the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) was spotted 45 kilometers east northeast of Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte early morning on Thursday.

In its public weather forecast, state weather bureau PAGASA said the LPA and ITCZ will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Dinagat Islands, Visayas, MIMAROPA, Bicol, Quezon, Laguna, and Rizal.

The ITCZ will also cause partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms in Metro Manila, the rest of CALABARZON, and the rest of Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the easterlies are expected to affect the rest of the country.

Aurora and Quirino may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies, according to PAGASA.

The rest of the country is also expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, PAGASA added.

PAGASA warned of possible flash floods or landslides during these weather conditions.

For coastal waters, slight to moderate conditions of up to 2.1 meters may be experienced in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Light to moderate winds are expected all over the country.

Previously, PAGASA said that the LPA is less likely to develop into a tropical cyclone.
