Heavy to intense rains affect parts of Metro Manila, 6 Luzon provinces


Parts of Metro Manila and six provinces in Luzon experienced heavy to intense rains with lightning and strong winds Monday afternoon, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

In a thunderstorm advisory issued at 1:49 p.m., PAGASA said the affected areas are:

  • Metro Manila (Pasig, Marikina, Quezon City),
  • Rizal (Antipolo, Taytay, Cainta, San Mateo, Angono),
  • Bulacan (Angat, San Jose del Monte),
  • Zambales (Botolan, Cabangan, Santa Cruz, Candelaria, Masinloc, Palauig, Iba),
  • Laguna (Calamba, Los Banos, Alaminos, Bay, Calauan, San Pablo, Rizal, Nagcarlan),
  • Batangas (Malvar, Santo Tomas, Lipa, Nasugbu, Tuy, Balayan), and
  • Cavite (Magallanes, Alfonso).

It said the weather condition will persist within two hours and may affect nearby areas.

It added moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds are expected over Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bataan, and Quezon within the next two hours.

Affected residents are advised to take precautionary measures against flash floods and landslides.

In an advisory earlier in the day, PAGASA said Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the western section of Southern Luzon and will bring rain showers over parts of Luzon.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
