Habagat to bring scattered rains over Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, Bataan

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers over the western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas on Tuesday, PAGASA reported.

Palawan, Occidental Mindoro, Zambales, and Bataan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the monsoon with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Zamboanga Peninsula, Western Visayas, the rest of Mimaropa, Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the Southwest Monsoon with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the heat index in Metro Manila will be under danger level at 44 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 43 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.

The temperature for heat index classified as under the danger level is between 42°C and 51°C.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.

In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau advised the public to do the following:

  • Limit the time spent outdoors.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor.
  • Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
  • Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler.

The western section of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southwest to south direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southeast to south direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
