PAGASA: 30 areas to have danger level heat index on Independence Day


PAGASA, on Tuesday, predicted that 30 different areas in the country will have a heat index falling that could reach danger levels on Independence Day.

According to its 5 p.m. heat index forecast, the following areas will have a heat index ranging from 42°C to 46°C on Wednesday:

  • Tuguegarao City, Cagayan
  • Virac (Synop), Catanduanes

  • Laoag City, Ilocos Norte
  • ISU Echague, Isabela
  • Legazpi City, Albay
  • Catarman, Northern Samar

  • Dagupan City, Pangasinan
  • Calayan, Cagayan
  • Baler (Radar), Aurora
  • Calapan, Oriental Mindoro
  • Masbate City, Masbate
 

43°C

  • Sinait, Ilocos Sur
  • MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte
  • Casiguran, Aurora
  • Cuyo, Palawan
  • Daet, Camarines Norte
  • Roxas City, Capiz

  • NAIA, Pasay City
  • Bacnotan, La Union
  • CLSU Muñoz, Nueva Ecija
  • Sangley Point, Cavite
  • Alabat, Quezon

Meanwhile, Baguio City, Beguet and BSU in La Trinidad, Benguet will have the lowest heat index forecast at 26°C for both areas.

PAGASA categorizes areas with 42°C to 51°C heat index under the danger category, while areas with 52°C and above fall under extreme danger.

Heat stroke is imminent in areas under extreme danger, while heat cramps, exhaustion and heat stroke are probably risks under the danger level.
