LPA to bring rains over E. Visayas, Dinagat, Surigao del Norte, Agusan del Norte
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) which PAGASA continues to monitor is at 145 kilometers west northwest of Butuan City, Agusan del Norte or over the coastal waters of Garcia Hernandez, Bohol early Tuesday morning.
Eastern Visayas, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Agusan del Norte will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.
PAGASA said the LPA has a small chance of becoming a tropical depression. The LPA may dissipate in a few hours, the weather bureau said.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.
PAGASA said the heat index in Metro Manila will be between extreme caution and danger level at 42 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 41 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.
The temperature for heat index classified as under the extreme caution level is between 33°C and 41°C while danger level is 42°C to 51°C.
The public was advised to take precaution against heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.
In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau advised the public to do the following:
- Limit the time spent outdoors.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor.
- Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
- Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler.
The wind speed forecast for Luzon is light to moderate moving in the southeast to south direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the southeast to northeast direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
