Easterlies to bring cloudy skies, isolated rains over parts of PH
The easterlies will bring cloudy skies with isolated rain showers over the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao on Saturday, PAGASA reported.
Meanwhile, the weather bureau continues to monitor the active tropical cyclone outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of 3 a.m., Tropical Storm Maliksi is 1,065 kilometers west of extreme Northern Luzon packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 90 km/h and moving northward at a speed of 10 km/h.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms.
Heat index
PAGASA said the heat index in Metro Manila will be between extreme caution and danger levels, at 42 degrees Celsius at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Pasay City station and 41 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden in Quezon City.
The public was advised to take precaution against heat cramps, heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
The heat index is a measure of how hot it really feels when factoring in the relative humidity at a given location.
In order to prevent heat-related illnesses, the weather bureau advised the public to do the following:
- Limit the time spent outdoors.
- Drink plenty of water.
- Avoid tea, coffee, soda or liquor.
- Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
- Schedule heavy-duty activities at start or end of the day when it's cooler.
