Habagat to bring rain over parts of Luzon

Habagat to bring rain over parts of Luzon

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will affect the western section of Luzon on Thursday, bringing cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms.

According to PAGASA's forecast for the day, the Southwest Monsoon will prevail over Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, and Palawan. Flash floods or landslides are possible in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms due to a frontal system, and may also experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

For Metro Manila and the rest of the country, the weather condition is expected to be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms are also possible, PAGASA said.

PAGASA on Wednesday declared the start of the rainy season in the country after significant rain was observed in the past few days over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas due to the occurrence of scattered rain showers, frequent thunderstorms, the passage of Typhoon Aghon, and Habagat.

However, PAGASA said there may be breaks in rainfall that extend over a few days or weeks. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
