Aghon continues to accelerate over PH Sea, may exit PAR Wednesday
Typhoon Aghon continues to move further away from Luzon, according to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. bulletin on Tuesday.
The typhoon was last seen 535 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes, with maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gustiness of up to 160 kph. Aghon was moving northeastward at 30 km/h.
The typhoon is unlikely to bring a significant amount of rainfall over the next three days, but moderate to heavy rains over Western Visayas and the western section of Luzon may be observed within the next three days due to the southwesterly windflow.
The southwesterly windflow partially influenced by the typhoon may also cause occasional gusty conditions over the next 24 hours in Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Aklan, and Antique.
Moderate to rough seas may also be expected over the coastal waters of Cagayan (eastern coast), Isabela, northern Aurora, and the northern coastal waters of the Polillo Islands, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.
Aghon is expected to have a short period of intensification within the next 12 hours before entering a period of weakening and exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday.
In the next 24 hours, cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may be expected over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula due to the southwesterly windflow.
Batanes, Babuyan Islands, and Apayao may experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms because of the frontal system, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds with moderate to rough coastal waters may be observed over Luzon, while Visayas and Mindanao may experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate seas.
Sunrise in Metro Manila will be at 5:26 a.m. on Wednesday. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
