The heat index is the measure of the temperature that a person feels in contrast to the actual air temperature.

The Department of Health (DOH) earlier advised the public to keep drinking lots of water to prevent dehydration.

The DOH likewise advised the public to refrain from leaving the house at noontime and to do so only in the morning or in the afternoon.

People should also wear light and loose clothing to keep the body cool.

PAGASA also urged the public to:

  • Limit the time spent outdoors.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Avoid tea, coffee, soda and liquor.
  • Wear umbrellas, hats, and sleeved clothing outdoors.
  • Schedule heavy-duty activities for the beginning or end of the day, when it's cooler.
