Easterlies to bring clouds and rain showers over PH


The easterlies are affecting the country on Sunday and will bring clouds and rain showers, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

Eastern Visayas will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Moderate to at times heavy rains may possibly lead to flash floods or landslides.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly result.

Coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

Sunrise was at 5:29 a.m. while sunset will be at 6:16 p.m.

Heat index

PAGASA said 31 areas will experience a heat index categorized under the danger level on Sunday.

As of 5 p.m. Saturday, PAGASA said the following areas were expected to post heat indexes between 42°C and 46°C:

Heat index is the measure of the temperature that a person feels in contrast to the actual air temperature.

For the danger level, heat cramps and heat exhaustion are likely, and heat stroke is probable with continued exposure.

To prevent these, the Department of Health (DOH) earlier advised the public to keep drinking lots of water to prevent dehydration.

The DOH likewise advised the public to refrain from leaving the house at noontime and to do so only in the morning or in the afternoon.
