Easterlies to bring cloudy skies, rain showers in some areas


The easterlies are affecting the eastern section of the country on Tuesday and will bring cloudy skies and rain showers in some areas, PAGASA said in its weather forecast.

Davao Region, Caraga, and SOCCSKSARGEN will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the easterlies. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

PAGASA issued a general flood advisory for parts of Davao Oriental, Davao de Oro, and Davao Occidental as follows, due to light to moderate rains and thunderstorms expected today:

  • Davao Oriental - rivers and tributaries particularly Cateel, Dapnan, Baganga Mahan-ub, Manorigao, Caraga, Casaunan, Quinonoan, Bagwan, Mayo, Bitanayan, Sumlog, Tangmoan, Dacongbonwa, Kabasagan, Manay, Maya and Sumlao/Cuabo
  • Davao de Oro - rivers and its tributaries particularly Matiao and Hijo
  • Davao Occidental - rivers and its tributaries particularly Panglan, Malita, Batanan Lais, Lawan, Latuan, Calian, Lamita, Lawayon, Culama, Caburan Bi, Maubio, Karabana, Tubayo, Kayapung, Malala, Capisolo, Tanoman Bi, Tanoman Smal, Kalbay, Butua, Nuin, Butula, Baki, Malagupo, Balagona, Batulaki.

 

The weather bureau advised residents living near mountain slopes and in the low-lying areas of the above-mentioned river systems, as well as disaster risk reduction and management offices to take the necessary precautionary measures against possible flooding.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country on the other hand may expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods may possibly result.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have slight to moderate coastal waters.
