Rainy Christmas in parts of Philippines due to Amihan, easterlies

The Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and the easterlies—or the winds blowing from the east—may spur rains across parts of the country, weather bureau PAGASA said in its 4 p.m. bulletin on Monday. 

Amihan may bring cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, and Aurora and partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

Cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms may be experienced in Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Eastern Samar, Bohol, and Southern Leyte due to the easterlies.

Meanwhile, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms may prevail over Palawan, the rest of Visayas, and the rest of Mindanao due to the combined effects of the easterlies and the localized thunderstorms. 

PAGASA warned the public against possible rain-induced flash floods and landslides in the affected areas.

Strong winds and rough waters may prevail over the seaboards of northern Luzon and the eastern section of Central Luzon. 

Moderate to strong forecast winds and moderate to rough coastal water conditions may be experienced over the rest of Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao. The rest of the country may have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate waters.
