Heavy rains expected in parts of PH due to LPA, shear line
Several parts of the country will experience heavy rains in the next 24 hours because of the combined effects of the low pressure area and the shear line, state weather bureau PAGASA said Saturday evening.
According to PAGASA’s weather advisory at 11 p.m., Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes will see 50 to 100 millimeters of rain, while Caraga will experience 100 to 200 millimeters of rain from Saturday to Sunday.
From Sunday to Monday, Apayao, Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, Bicol Region, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas will experience 50 to 100 millimeters of rain, while Northern Mindanao and Caraga will have 100 to 200 millimeters of rain.
Palawan is forecast to have 50 to 100 millimeters of rain from Monday to Tuesday.
Flooding and rain-induced landslides may occur as a result of these weather conditions.
At 3 p.m., the LPA was spotted 925 kilometers east of southeastern Mindanao.
The LPA has the potential to intensify into a tropical cyclone, according to PAGASA.
If the LPA develops into a tropical cyclone, it will be referred to locally as Kabayan. — Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
