Shear line, Amihan to bring rains over Luzon, parts of Visayas

Shear line, Amihan to bring rains over Luzon, parts of Visayas

The shear line will be affecting the eastern section of the Visayas while the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will be affecting Luzon on Saturday, PAGASA reported.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a Low Pressure Area (LPA), which was estimated at 3 a.m. on Saturday at 605 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Visayas, Northern Mindanao, Caraga and the Davao Region will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line and trough of the LPA. Flash floods or landslides may occur in these areas due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

Cagayan Valley, Apayao and the Bicol Region will have cloudy skies with light rains due to the Northeast Monsoon with no significant impact.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the monsoon with no significant impact.

The rest of Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms  due to localized thunderstorms with the possibility of flash floods or landslides occurring during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon and the eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao is strong moving northeastward. Coastal waters will be rough in these areas.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the northeast to north direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.

Sunrise will be at 5:58 a.m., sunset at 5:24 p.m. — BAP/KG, GMA Integrated News
