LPA trough to cause rain showers over Visayas, Mindanao, parts of Luzon
A low pressure area's (LPA) trough or extension will cause rain showers over Visayas, Mindanao, and parts of Luzon on Wednesday, PAGASA said in its forecast.
Metro Manila, Visayas, Mindanao, Bicol Region, Mimaropa, and Calabarzon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA. Moderate to at times heavy rains may lead to flash floods or landslides.
The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the trough of the LPA and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.
The LPA was located at 3 a.m. Wednesday at 750 km east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
"Nananatiling mababa ang tsansang maging bagyo ng binabantayan nating low pressure area," Anjo Pertierra of GMA Integrated News' Weather Center said on Unang Balita.
(The LPA has a low chance of becoming a tropical depression.)
"Sa mga susunod na oras, unti-unting malulusaw at sasanib ang LPA sa bagyong may international name na Bolaven na isang typhoon," he added.
(In the next few hours, the LPA will dissipate and merge with Typhoon Bolaven.)
At 3 a.m., Bolaven was estimated to be located at 2,310 km east of Southeastern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 155 km/h, gustiness of up to 190 km/h, according to PAGASA.
Bolaven is moving north northwestward at 15 km/h.
"Hindi naman inaasahang papasok sa PAR ang nasabing typhoon," Pertierra said.
(The typhoon is not expected to enter PAR.)
Meanwhile, coastal waters will be slight to moderate throughout the country.
