LPA spotted northeast of Batanes

A low pressure area was located in the waters off Itbayat, Batanes, while the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the country, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA on Thursday.

At 3 p.m., the LPA was spotted 335 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, PAGASA said in its 24-hour weather forecast issued at 4 p.m.

Metro Manila, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and BARMM will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms because of the Southwest Monsoon.

The rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the localized thunderstorms and Habagat.

Flash floods or landslides may occur because of these weather conditions.

Light to moderate winds with slight to moderate coastal waters are forecast for the whole country.

The sun will rise over Metro Manila at 5:45 a.m. on Friday.  —Jiselle Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
