LPA outside Philippine Area of Responsibility develops into tropical depression
The low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility developed into a tropical depression and was expected to turn into a typhoon later this week, state weather bureau PAGASA said Sunday.
According to PAGASA's Tropical Cyclone Advisory 1 released at 5 p.m., the tropical depression was expected to be classified a typhoon at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, August 30, and would enter the PAR at 2 p.m. on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
This comes as the country continues to face Super Typhoon Goring (international name: Saola), with the Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 3 raised over the eastern portion of Isabela.
Nearly 2,000 individuals have so far been affected by Goring in the Ilocos Region and the Cagayan Valley based on reports of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
Goring is expected to remain a super typhoon until it makes landfall over southern Taiwan on Wednesday evening or early Thursday morning. — DVM, GMA Integrated News
