Habagat to bring rain over parts of Luzon, Visayas


The southwest monsoon or habagat will bring cloudy skies and rain over parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Wednesday, PAGASA reported.

The weather bureau, meanwhile, continues to monitor Typhoon Khanun (formerly Falcon), which is outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) or 765 kilometers northeast of Itbayat, Batanes packing maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 215 km/h and moving west northwestward at the speed of 10 km/h.

Zambales and Bataan will have monsoon rains due to the southwest monsoon (Habagat). Flooding or landslides may occur in these provinces due to scattered to widespread heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Ilocos Region, Pampanga, Bulacan, and Occidental Mindoro will have occasional rains also due to the southwest monsoon with flooding or landslides possibly occurring due to moderate to heavy rains.

Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, CALABARZON, the rest of Central Luzon, and the rest of MIMAROPA will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides occurring due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon and localized thunderstorms with flash floods or landslides possibly occurring during severe thunderstorms.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon is strong moving in the southwest to west direction while coastal waters will be rough.

The Visayas will experience moderate to strong wind speed moving  southwestward with moderate to rough coastal waters.

Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the south to southwest direction with light to moderate coastal waters.
