Typhoon formerly Egay moves away, Signal No. 1 up in Batanes


Typhoon Doksuri, formerly Egay, is already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility but Signal No. 1 is still up over some areas in northern Philippines.

According to PAGASA's tropical cyclone bulletin issued at 5 p.m., the eye of the typhoon was estimated at 280 kilometers west northwest of Itbayat, Batanes.

It was packing maximum sustained winds of 150 kph near the center, gustiness of up to 185 kph, and central pressure of 955 hPa.

The typhoon was moving west northwestward at 10 lph.

Signal No. 1 is up over Batanes,

northern portion of Apayao (Calanasan, Luna, Santa Marcela), Ilocos Norte, and the northwestern portion of Cagayan (Santa Praxedes, Claveria, Sanchez-Mira, Pamplona, Abulug, Ballesteros) including the Babuyan Islands.

Accumulated rainfall of 50 to 100 millimeters is expected today over Batanes, the Babuyan Islands, and the northern portion of Ilocos Norte. —Jiselle Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
