PAGASA: Habagat to spur rains across Philippines

Monsoon rains may persist over parts of the country due to the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), according to state weather bureau PAGASA on Tuesday.

PAGASA said the Cordillera Administrative Region, Zambales, and Bataan may have cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms while monsoon rains may be experienced in the Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands due to the Habagat.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms, the weather bureau said.

PAGASA warned the public against flash floods or landslides that may occur in the affected areas due to the expected rainfall.

It added that moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough waters are forecast in northern and central Luzon. The rest of the country, meanwhile, is  expected to have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal water conditions.

The highest temperature peaked at 32°C at 11 a.m. while the lowest was 25.1°C at 6 a.m.

The sun will rise over Metro Manila Wednesday at 5:27 a.m. — Sundy Locus/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
