LPA off Northern Samar to bring rains across Philippines

A low pressure area (LPA) in the waters off Northern Samar will spur rains over a large swath of the country, the state weather bureau PAGASA said Thursday.

Based on its 24-hour weather forecast, PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail in the Eastern Visayas, Bicol Region, and Dinagat Islands due to the LPA.

Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the LPA was last seen 295 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar, at 3 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) will trigger partly cloudy to cloudy skies with light rains over the rest of Luzon.

Forecast winds in the eastern section of Luzon and Visayas will be moderate to strong, with moderate to rough coastal waters. The rest of the country will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters.

The sun will rise over Metro Manila at 6:03 a.m. on Friday. — Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
