LPA, Amihan to bring scattered rains over parts of Luzon
The Low Pressure Area (LPA) and Northeast Monsoon or Amihan will bring cloudy skies and scattered rains over parts of Luzon on Tuesday, PAGASA reported.
At 3 a.m. on Tuesday, the LPA was estimated to be located at 340 kilometers east northeast of Casiguran, Aurora or 345 km east of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
Mainland Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, and Quezon will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms brought about by the LPA. Flash floods or landslides may possibly result due to moderate to heavy with at times intense rains.
"Sa kasalukuyan hindi natin tinatanggal 'yung scenario na malulusaw siya (LPA) although makikita rin nating maaari siyang lumayo sa landmass," PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres said on Unang Balita.
(At present, we are not discounting the scenario that the LPA will dissipate, although we see that it could also move away from the landmass.)
The Northeast Monsoon or Amihan meanwhile continues to affect Northern Luzon.
Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with rains due to the monsoon with possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains.
Ilocos Region and Cordillera Administrative Region will have partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with light rains also due to the northeast monsoon but with no significant impact.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country will also have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the LPA and localized thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may result.
The wind speed forecast for Luzon is moderate to strong moving in the northeast to north direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
The eastern sections of Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the east to southeast direction while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
The rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speed moving northeastward with slight to moderate coastal waters.
