PAGASA said heavy to intense with at times torrential rains will prevail over Metro Manila, Zambales, Bataan, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, and the northern portion of mainland Quezon until Sunday morning.

Moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are expected over mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Mindoro Provinces, the central portion of Quezon including Polillo Islands, and the rest of Central Luzon.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are possible over Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the rest of Mimaropa and Quezon.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila, mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Rizal, Laguna, Cavite, Batangas, Mindoro Provinces, and the northern portion of mainland Quezon will experience moderate to heavy with at times intense rains for the rest of Sunday.

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are possible over Ilocos Region, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and the rest of Mimaropa, and Quezon including Polillo Islands.

PAGASA warned of widespread flooding and rain-induced landslides are expected, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazard as identified in hazard maps and in localities with significant antecedent rainfall under these conditions.

A marine gale warning remains in effect over the seaboards of Luzon and Visayas and the eastern seaboard of Mindanao under the influence of the surge of the Northeast Monsoon (Amihan) and Paeng.

Paeng is forecast to track generally northwestward through Sunday evening and will likely exit the Luzon landmass within six to 12 hours.

The severe tropical storm will track north northwestward over the West Philippine Sea until Tuesday, the weather bureau said.

PAGASA said Paeng may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Monday.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau is also monitoring a tropical depression some 1,440 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao.

“This tropical depression is forecast to track very slowly westward in the next 24 hours before gradually accelerating westward over the Philippines,” PAGASA said in a separate bulletin.

“On the forecast track, it may enter the PAR region on Monday and will be named Queenie. A turn to the west northwestward may occur by Tuesday as it approaches the sea area east of Mindanao. This tropical cyclone is forecast to remain as a tropical depression until Tuesday and may weaken into a remnant low on Wednesday.” — VBL, GMA News
