LPA east of Eastern Visayas develops into Tropical Depression Paeng
The low pressure area east of Eastern Visayas has intensified into a tropical depression on Wednesday morning, state weather bureau PAGASA said.
“At 8:00 a.m. today, the low pressure area East of Eastern Visayas developed into Tropical Depression #PaengPH,” PAGASA said in an update on Facebook.
Tropical cyclone bulletins will be issued starting at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, PAGASA added.
In its 11 a.m. weather advisory, PAGASA said moderate to heavy with at times intense rains are expected over Visayas and Caraga in the next 24 hours due to the shearline and trough of Paeng.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains may be experienced over Quezon, Bicol region, Northern Mindanao, and Zamboanga Peninsula, it added.
"Under these conditions, flooding and rain-induced landslides are likely, especially in areas that are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps and in areas with significant antecedent rainfall,” PAGASA said. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
