PAGASA: LPA east of Aurora now a tropical depression called Maymay
The low pressure area (LPA) located east of Aurora has developed into a tropical depression which will be called Maymay, the weather bureau PAGASA announced early Tuesday morning.
"At 12 a.m. today, the Low Pressure Area East of Aurora developed into Tropical Depression #MaymayPH," PAGASA said, adding that tropical cyclone bulletins would be issued at 5 a.m.
PAGASA earlier posted a Tropical Cyclone Update at 11 p.m. on Monday to report that an LPA outside the PAR had developed into a tropical depression.
At 10 p.m. on Monday night, the center of the tropical depression was estimated at 1,620 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas.
It had maximum sustained winds of 45 kilometers per hour near the center, gustiness of up to 55 kph, central pressure of 1006 hPa, and moving West Southwestward at 40 kph. —BAP/NB, GMA News
