PAGASA: LPA off Aurora, Habagat to bring rains across the country

Two weather systems will continue to bring rains over parts of the country in the next 24 hours, PAGASA said Tuesday.

According to PAGASA’s 4 p.m. weather forecast, a low pressure area (LPA) was located 715 km east of Baler, Aurora at 3 p.m., while the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will be affecting Central and Southern Luzon, and the Visayas.

The LPA and Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, the Bicol Region, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Samar Provinces, it said.

Further, flash floods or landslides may occur due to moderate to at times heavy rains, the forecast said.

Meanwhile, PAGASA said the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

Residents were advised of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the wind speed forecast for extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate to strong, while coastal water conditions will be moderate to rough, ranging from 1.2 meters to 2.8 meters.

Slight to moderate wind speeds will be experienced by the rest of the country, with slight to moderate coastal water conditions, ranging from 0.6 meters to 2.5 meters, it added. — Mel Matthew Doctor/RSJ, GMA News
