PAGASA monitoring two active tropical cyclones outside PAR

State weather bureau PAGASA is monitoring two active tropical cyclones outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 p.m., Typhoon Muifa (formerly Inday) is located at 550 km north northeast of Itbayat, Batanes, based on PAGASA's 4 p.m. daily weather bulletin.

It had maximum sustained winds at 150 km/h, gustiness of up to 150 km/h while moving north northwestward at 10 km/h.

Another tropical depression is located at 1,785 kilometers east of Extreme Northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds at 55 km/h, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and moving east northeastward at 10 km/h.

Meanwhile, Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will be affecting western sections of Southern Luzon and Visayas and is expected to bring rains in the next 24 hours.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat.

Flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms, PAGASA said.

The wind speed forecast for Extreme Northern Luzon will be moderate strong while coastal waters will be rough, ranging from 2.8 meters to 4 meters.

The rest of the country will experience light to moderate wind speed with slight to moderate coastal waters, ranging from 0.6 to 2.5 meters.—Mel Matthew Doctor/LDF, GMA News
