Typhoon Inday to bring rains, thunderstorms over Batanes, Luzon

Typhoon Inday is expected to bring rainshowers and thunderstorms over Batanes and parts of Luzon, PAGASA announced late Sunday evening.

The state weather bureau's 11 p.m. bulletin indicated that rains and thunderstorms can be expected in Batanes, and the western areas of Central and southern Luzon.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals are unlikely, but PAGASA said any further westward movement in the track forecast or an expansion in the extent of the winds may result in a wind signal.

“Gusty conditions reaching strong to gale-force strength may be experienced over Extreme Northern Luzon tomorrow due to the channeling of the typhoon circulation in the Luzon Strait,” the bulletin read.

Moderate to rough seas are also expected in the eastern seaboard and the remaining northern seaboard of Northern Luzon in the next 24 hours, which could be “risky” for small seacraft.

Typhoon Inday is expected to move northwestward in the next 12 hours, and turn northward towards the YaeYama Islands.

It is seen to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning, and move over the East China Sea. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/BM, GMA News
