Scattered rain expected across the western Philippines –PAGASA
The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, as well as the Intertropical Convergence Zone, were expected to affect the western sections of the country, PAGASA said in a Tuesday afternoon forecast.
Zambales, Bataan, Mimaropa, the Western Visayas, and the Zamboanga Peninsula could thus expect cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
Flash floods or landslides may result due to the moderate to heavy rain in these areas.
The rest of the country could meanwhile expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the Habagat and localized thunderstorms.
During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may occur.
The wind speed forecast for the whole country would be light to moderate, while coastal water conditions would be slight to moderate, ranging from 0.6 meters to 2.1 meters.
Tropical depression
PAGASA meanwhile was monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
As of Tuesday 3 p.m., the tropical depression was 1,565 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon.
It had maximum sustained winds at 45 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
The tropical depression was moving south-southwest at 10 kph.
Earlier, PAGASA said the tropical depression, if it maintained its speed, might enter the PAR on Wednesday. — DVM, GMA News
