Two or three cyclones may enter PAR this August 2022, Mang Tani says

Two or three weather cyclones may possibly enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) this month, GMA resident meteorologist Nathaniel "Mang Tani" Cruz said on Unang Balita on Monday.

"Dalawa o tatlong bagyo ang posibleng mamuo o pumasok sa loob ng Philippine Area of Responsibility ngayong buwan ng Agosto," Cruz said.

Based on PAGASA's average track of cyclones this August, a cyclone may possibly make landfall over Northern Luzon or pass by Extreme Northern Luzon, he said.

However the whole Luzon and parts of Visayas will be affected due to the cyclone enhancing the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), he added.

(Don't be surprised — even if a cyclone will not pass through Metro Manila, it will be rainy.)

Cruz said the monsoon is expected to weaken in the next few days since no weather disturbance is seen.

However, a low pressure area may possibly form after a few days, and this will again enhance the Habagat, he added.

The Southwest Monsoon continues to affect the country on Monday and will bring rain showers over several areas, PAGASA said.

Metro Manila, Western Visayas, Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country meanwhile will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the monsoon and localized thunderstorms. —KG, GMA News
