PAGASA: 11 to 12 typhoons expected in PAR in 2022
Around 11 to 12 tropical cyclones (TCs) are still expected to enter the Philippines in 2022, state weather bureau PAGASA has said.
According to PAGASA, the peak of typhoon season in the country runs from July to October “when nearly 70 percent of all typhoons develop."
“More TCs are entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) than anywhere else. With the average of 20 TCs in this region per year, with about eight or nine of them crossing the Philippines,” it said.
The state weather bureau said around two to three TCs are expected to enter PAR in July, August, and September while two to four typhoons are expected in the country in October.
For November, two to three TCs are expected while only one or two typhoons are expected over PAR in December.
The Philippines reported its fourth typhoon for 2022 last week with Tropical Storm Domeng. It exited PAR on Sunday, July 2.—LDF, GMA News
