LPA, Amihan to bring rain over Luzon, Mindanao areas –PAGASA

A low-pressure area (LPA) would bring rain showers across several Mindanao regions, while the Northeast Monsoon or “Amihan” will affect Luzon, weather bureau PAGASA said on Saturday.

According to PAGASA, the LPA was 970 kilometers east of the Visayas as of 3 p.m.

The Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Caraga, Davao Region, and the southern portion of Palawan including the Kalayaan Islands would experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA, with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rain.

The Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and the northern portion of Quezon, including Polillo Island, would have cloudy skies with light rain due to the Amihan.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms with possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains.

The wind speed forecast for Luzon, Visayas, and the eastern section of Mindanao was moderate to strong with moderate to rough coastal waters.

The rest of Mindanao will experience light to moderate wind speeds while coastal waters would be slight to moderate.

Meanwhile, PAGASA was monitoring Tropical Cyclone Nyatoh outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

As of 3 a.m., Typhoon Nyatoh was 2,325 kilometers east of extreme northern Luzon with maximum sustained winds of 140 kilometers per hour and gustiness up to 170 kph.
