LPA embedded in ITCZ to bring scattered rains over NCR, 6 other areas

A low pressure area (LPA) embedded in the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao on Sunday is expected to cause rains over the National Capital Region and six other areas, PAGASA said.

The NCR, Visayas, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Aurora and Bulacan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the LPA and ITCZ. Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate to heavy rains.

Batanes and Babuyan Islands will have cloudy skies with rains due to the northeasterly surface windflow, likewise with the possibility of flash floods or landslides during times of moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the ITCZ and localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may result during severe thunderstorms.

PAGASA said the LPA was located at 3 a.m. in the vicinity of San Vicente, Palawan embedded along the ITCZ.

The weather bureau is also monitoring a tropical depression outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. As of 3 a.m., the tropical depression was located at 1,580 km east of Visayas, and has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 55 km/h. It is almost stationary.

Coastal waters will be moderate to rough in the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon, with wave heights reaching 4 meters.

The seas will be slight to moderate in the rest of the country.
