Red rainfall warning up over Palawan, orange over Occidental Mindoro
PAGASA raised at 2 p.m. on Tuesday a red rainfall warning over Palawan including Kalayaan Island, and an orange rainfall warning over Occidental Mindoro.
The rainfall alerts were due to rains from Severe Tropical Storm Maring and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).
The red rainfall warning means torrential rains measuring more than 30 mm may be expected in one hour, and may continue in the next two hours.
This may cause serious flooding in low-lying areas and landslides in mountainous areas.
With the orange rainfall warning, intense rains measuring 15-30 mm are to be expected in an hour which may continue in the next two hours.
Flooding and landslides are threatening in areas susceptible to these hazards.
PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management councils concerned to take the necessary actions, monitor the weather condition, and await the next advisory to be issued at 5 p.m. —KG, GMA News
