Signal No. 2 over 13 areas as Jolina seen to make landfall Marinduque on Wednesday
Signal No. 2 has been lifted over the Visayas as severe tropical storm Jolina further weakened while moving over the Sibuyan Sea, PAGASA announced Tuesday.
According to the 5 p.m. severe weather bulletin, however, TCWS No. 2 remained raised over the following areas in Luzon:
- The central and southern portions of Quezon (Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Lopez, Buenavista, San Narciso, San Andres, San Francisco, Mulanay, Catanauan, General Luna, Macalelon, Calauag, Gumaca, Pitogo, Unisan, Atimonan, Plaridel, Agdangan, Padre Burgos, Quezon, Alabat, Perez, Mauban, City of Tayabas, Sampaloc, Lucban, Pagbilao, Lucena City, Sariaya, Candelaria, Dolores, Tiaong, San Antonio, Real)

PAGASA warned affected residents against damaging gale-force to storm-force winds which may bring generally light to moderate damage to structures and vegetation.

Areas under TCWS No. 1 may experience strong winds with occasional gusts, which may result in up to very light damage to structures and vegetation.
As of 4 p.m., the center of Jolina was estimated at 60 kilometers west-northwest of Masbate City, Masbate with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 125 kph.
It is moving west-northwestward at 15 kph.
PAGASA said Jolina may make landfall or pass near/ over the Marinduque-Southern Quezon area on Wednesday morning.
After, it is expected to traverse over Tayabas Bay and make another landfall over the southwestern portion of Quezon on Wednesday afternoon.
It is forecast to emerge over the West Philippine Sea before Thursday noon.
The next SWB will be issued at 8 p.m.
Hazards affecting land and coastal areas
According to PAGASA, heavy to intense rains with, at times, torrential rains are expected over Masbate, Sorsogon, Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Southern Quezon, Romblon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, and Occidental Mindoro in the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy with, at times, intense rains may prevail over Metro Manila, Aurora, the rest of CALABARZON, and Western Visayas.
PAGASA warned against possible scattered to widespread flooding and rain-induced landslides, especially in highly susceptible areas.
The weather agency also warned that the threat of coastal inundation due to storm surge remains for several coastal localities of Biliran, Sorsogon, Samar, and Masbate, which may pose threat to life and property.
PAGASA also warned that rough to very rough seas are expected over the seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 2.
“Sea travel is risky for all types of seacrafts over these waters. Mariners without the proper experience should immediately seek safe harbor,” PAGASA said.
Meanwhile, moderate to rough seas are expected over the seaboards of areas under TCWS No. 1 and the remaining seaboards of Visayas.
“Mariners of small seacrafts are advised to take precautionary measures when venturing out to sea. Inexperienced mariners should avoid navigating in these conditions,” it said. -NB, GMA News
