Habagat to bring scattered rains over Ilocos, CAR, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, Bataan


The Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect the country on Monday, and is expected to bring rains over many areas, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.

The Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Cagayan Valley, Zambales, and Bataan will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may occur during times of moderate to heavy rains.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. During severe thunderstorms, flash floods or landslides may possibly occur.

Coastal waters will be moderate to strong in Luzon and Visayas, with waves possibly reaching up to 4 meters tall.

Meanwhile, in Mindanao, coastal waters will be slight to moderate.

PAGASA is also monitoring a tropical depression located 2,195 km east northeast of Extreme Northern Luzon as of 3 a.m. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 55 km/h. The tropical depression is moving at 25 km/h.
