Habagat to bring light to heavy rains over parts of Luzon —PAGASA

Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are expected over some parts of Luzon due to the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, state weather bureau PAGASA said Friday.

In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said these weather conditions will be experienced over Ilocos Region, Benguet, Zambales, Bataan, and Pampanga in the next 24 hours.

PAGASA also warned of possible scattered to widespread flooding and rain-induced landslides in areas experiencing heavy rainfall or prolonged downpour, or in areas prone to such hazards.

On Thursday, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said at least four people were reported dead while six were injured due to the effects of Habagat.

At least 278,444 people or 68,342 families from 684 barangays were affected by the Habagat, according to the NDRRMC.

These affected residents were reported from Ilocos Region, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Cordillera Administrative Region, and National Capital Region.

Around 27,393 individuals or 7,727 families were staying inside evacuation centers, while 56,578 people or 12,748 families were taking shelter outside evacuation facilities. —Joviland Rita/KBK, GMA News
