PAGASA warns cities, towns around Pasig-Marikina Tullahan River of possible flooding amid Habagat

State weather bureau PAGASA on Friday issued a flood advisory for Pasig-Marikina Tullahan River Basin that may affect nearby cities and towns amid the heavy rains brought by Habagat.

In its 9 a.m. flood advisory, PAGASA identified the following areas that may be affected by the flooding:

• Rodriguez
• Antipolo
• San Mateo
• Quezon City
• Marikina
• Mandaluyong
• Makati
• Manila
• San Juan
• Cainta
• Taytay

PAGASA advised residents and local disaster offices to be alert.

“People living near the mountain slopes and in low-lying areas are advised to be alert. Local flooding is possible in areas due to impounding water and poor clogged drainage system,” PAGASA said.

Based on the forecast of the state weather bureau, light to moderate rains are expected around the area of the river in the next 12 hours. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
