3 areas under Signal No. 2; Stormy weather over Samar provinces
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 was hoisted over Eastern Samar, Samar and Northern Samar on Tuesday as rains from Tropical Storm Dante are expected to be heavy and intense, PAGASA said in its early morning forecast.
TCWS No. 1 meanwhile was raised over the following areas:
LUZON
- Masbate
- Sorsogon
- Albay
- Catanduanes
- Camarines Sur
- Camarines Norte
- southeastern portion of Quezon (Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Buenavista, San Narciso, San Andres)
VISAYAS
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Biliran
- northern portion of Cebu (Catmon, Sogod, Borbon, Tabogon, City of Bogo, Medellin, Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Tabuelan) including Bantayan and Camotes Islands
MINDANAO
- northern portion of Surigao del Sur (San Agustin, Marihatag, Cagwait, City of Tandag, Bayabas, Tago, Cortes, Lanuza, Carmen, Madrid, Cantilan, Carrascal, San Miguel)
- northern portion of Agusan del Sur (Sibagat)
- northern portion of Agusan del Norte (City of Cabadbaran, Santiago, Tubay, Jabonga, Kitcharao)
- Dinagat Islands
- Surigao del Norte
The provinces of Samar will be stormy with possible flash floods or landslides due to heavy to at times intense rains, PAGASA reported.
The weather bureau adds that there is a possibility that moderate to heavy damage to structures and vegetation due to strong winds.
Dante is forecast to bring moderate to heavy rains over Eastern Visayas, the northern portion of Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Islands, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Sorsogon, and Masbate.
Light to moderate with at times heavy rains are also likely over Catanduanes, Albay, Camarines Sur, Misamis Oriental, Agusan del Sur, Camiguin, Bukidnon, Davao Region, and SOCCSKSARGEN, and the rest of Central Visayas.
The center of Tropical Storm Dante was estimated at 290 kilometers northeast of Surigao City, Surigao del Norte with maximum sustained winds of 75 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph and moving northwestward at 20 kph.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers due to localized thunderstorms. Flash floods or landslides may possibly occur during severe thunderstorms.
The eastern section of Visayas and southern Luzon will have moderate to strong wind speed moving in the northeast to northwest direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
Wind speed forecast for the eastern section of Mindanao is moderate to strong moving in the northwest to southwest direction while coastal waters will be moderate to rough.
The western section of Luzon, the rest of Visayas and Mindanao will experience a light to moderate wind speed moving in the northwest to southwest direction while coastal waters will be slight to moderate.
The rest of Luzon will experience light to moderate wind speed moving in the east to northeast direction with slight to moderate coastal waters.
