Thunderstorms due to ITCZ threaten Mindanao


The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring thunderstorms in Mindanao over the weekend.

In his 24 Oras report, GMA’s resident meteorologist Nathaniel “Mang Tani Cruz” said the ITCZ will affect the entire Mindanao and will bring heavy rains in the area especially in the afternoon.

He also warned of possible flash flood and landslide due to heavy rains.

In the Visayas, Cruz said there will be moderate to heavy rains, especially in the wester part on Saturday.

On Sunday, intense thunderstorms are expected in Central and Western Visayas.

In Luzon, there is a high chance slight to moderate rains over the weekend, especially in the MIMAROPA and Bicol Regions.

On Sunday afternoon, the Ilocos, Cordillera, and Central Luzon regions might experience thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila may experience thunderstorms on Saturday, and on Sunday cloudy skies are expected in the metropolis, but low chance of rain showers, Cruz said. —Hana Bordey/LBG, GMA News
