Upcoming dry season may be rainier than usual

The Philippines may experience an unusual dry season this year due to rains that may occur more than usual, GMA’s resident meteorologist Nathaniel “Mang Tani” Cruz said Thursday.

Citing data from PAGASA, Cruz said that almost the entire country will experience rains more than normal in March.

Meanwhile, Visayas and Mindanao may experience rains above the normal level in April while some Luzon will experience the usual level of rainfall.

In May, rains will occur more than usual in Luzon and Visayas while Mindanao will experience normal levels of rain.

Cruz said the three months are considered the dry season in the country when Filipinos usually rush to beaches or swimming pools due to the lack of rain.

However, he advised the public to prepare for a rainy summer due to the effects of La Niña. — Joahna Lei Casilao/BM, GMA News
