Moderate to heavy rains expected over Bicol, 11 other areas due to LPA
Moderate to heavy rains are expected over Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Quezon, Aurora, Bulacan, Rizal, Mindoro Provinces, Marinduque, Romblon, Dinagat Islands, Calamian Islands, and Kalayaan Islands on Sunday as two low pressure areas are being monitored by PAGASA.
Mainland Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Metro Manila, Northern Mindanao, Zamboanga Peninsula, and the rest of Central Luzon, Calabarzon, MIMAROPA, Visayas, and Caraga meanwhile will have light to moderate with at times heavy rains.
At 10 a.m., one LPA was located over the West Philippine Sea at 80 km west of Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.
The other LPA was located 85 km east of Legazpi City in Albay.
PAGASA said both LPAs are less likely to turn into tropical depressions in the next 24 hours.
"However, due to improvements in the cloud system of both disturbance over the past 12 hours, the likelihood of tropical cyclone formation is not ruled out at this time," it said.
On Monday, moderate to heavy rains are to be expected over Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, the northern portion of Apayao, the northern portion of Ilocos Norte, and Aurora.
Metro Manila, Calabarzon, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Kalayaan Islands, and the rest of Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, and Apayao meanwhile will have light to moderate with at times heavy rains on Monday.
PAGASA said flooding, including flash floods, and rain-induced landslides may occur during times of heavy or prolonged rainfall, especially in areas which received a significant amount of rainfall recently or are prone to these hazards.
Flooding may also occur in areas adjacent or nearby, even without rainfall, as river channels may swell.
PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take the appropriate actions.
The next weather update will be issued at 4 p.m. —KG, GMA News
