Signal No. 1 remains in over 30 areas as Vicky nears landfall
Over 30 areas in the country still remained under Signal Number 1 as Tropical Depression Vicky maintained its strength while about to make landfall over Davao Oriental, PAGASA said Friday.
In its 2 p.m. bulletin, PAGASA said Vicky is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Baganga-Caraga area in Davao Oriental between 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday.
The following areas will experience "strong breeze to near gale conditions" during the passage of Vicky:
Luzon
- The northern and central portion of Palawan (Puerto Princesa City, Roxas, San Vicente, Dumaran, Araceli, Taytay, El Nido) including Calamian, Cuyo, and Cagayancillo Islands
Visayas
- The southern portion of Leyte (Baybay City, Javier, Abuyog, Mahaplag, Inopacan, Hindang, Hilongos, Bato, Matalom, Palompon, Merida, Isabel)
- Southern Leyte

According to PAGASA, Vicky will likely emerge over the Bohol Sea early Saturday morning, pass close to Siquijor, and pass close or make another landfall over the southern portion of Negros Island after crossing Mindanao.
By Saturday morning or afternoon, Vicky is likely to emerge over the Sulu Sea.
Vicky is forecast to remain a tropical depression while crossing the Philippine archipelago. At 1 p.m. on Friday, its center was estimated based on all available data at 95 km east of Davao City.
It is moving west-northwestward at 15 km/h with maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h near the center and gustiness of up to 60 km/h. --Jamil Santos/KBK, GMA News
