Red rainfall warning up over Albay, 7 other areas
PAGASA raised the red rainfall warning over Albay and seven other areas at 11 a.m. on Sunday due to heavy rains from Super Typhoon Rolly (international name: Goni).
The areas under red rainfall warning are:
- Albay
- Camarines Sur
- Sorsogon
- Camarines Norte
- Masbate (including Burias and Ticao Island)
- Oriental Mindoro
- Marinduque
- Romblon
These areas were warned about severe flooding that may occur in flood-prone areas and near river channels.
PAGASA said landslides may also result in areas prone to these due to the heavy rains.
The orange rainfall warning, meanwhile, was raised at 11 a.m. over Catanduanes and Northern Samar.
Under orange rainfall warning, flooding is threatening in areas that are low-lying and near river channels.
Landslides also pose a threat in areas prone to these hazards.
PAGASA advised the public and disaster risk reduction and management offices concerned to take the necessary precautions, monitor the weather condition and await the 2 p.m. advisory on Sunday afternoon. —KG, GMA News
